Austria participated in a meeting of the interior ministers of the Central European 'Visegrad' group. The meeting discussed linking European databases to combat illegal migration and terrorism, and implementing measures to establish centers for the return and deportation of violators in countries outside Europe. Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner presented a practical roadmap for implementing the plan to create deportation centers in partner countries beyond the European Union borders at the meeting of the group, which includes Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. He emphasized the importance of cross-border dialogue and close cooperation between law enforcement agencies of different countries, especially in combating terrorism and extremism, and announced that work is underway to implement asylum procedures and return centers in cooperating countries outside Europe.
