The Austrian Council of Ministers approved on Wednesday the deployment of specialized police and military personnel, as well as civilian experts, to the Middle East region to support the implementation of the peace plan for the Gaza Strip. The Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense will provide personnel for this mission. The Council's decision came at the request of Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger, who believes that a strong and early presence of European countries in the initial phase of implementing the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza is crucial for playing an effective role in shaping the post-war system and rebuilding the sector. Foreign Minister Meinl-Reisinger confirmed Austria's participation in efforts to finally end the war in Gaza, contributing to the responsibility for peace and stability in the Middle East and supporting reconstruction. She also revealed that two Austrian experts have already arrived at the U.S.-led Civilian-Military Coordination Center, which coordinates international support efforts for Gaza. According to the report from the Austrian government, five individuals will be deployed to the Middle East region to support the peace plan for Gaza, with the possibility of deploying additional personnel from the Interior and Defense ministries for preparatory and support activities, and allowing for the deployment of up to 20 armed forces personnel for any necessary air transport of the Austrian unit.
