A neurologist from the Medical University of Innsbruck in Austria, Dr. Birgit Högl, warns about the lack of sleep, which involves many health risks. Insufficient sleep increases the risk of metabolic disorders, diabetes, and high blood pressure, as well as increasing sensitivity to pain.

It should be noted that even light sources of noise that do not cause waking can negatively affect sleep.

Temperature: The bedroom should not be too warm. Additionally, lack of sleep puts working memory, verbal fluency, emotional regulation, and decision-making abilities at risk.

To enjoy a healthy and restful sleep, Dr. Högl recommends the following measures:

Darkness: The bedroom should be as dark as possible. If you want to reduce or increase the time needed to fall asleep, you can dim the room's light one or two hours before sleep.

Quiet: For a peaceful sleep, the place should be as quiet as possible. A person sleeps better when their core body temperature drops, which occurs when the body begins to get rid of excess heat, usually through the hands and feet.

Dinner: Dinner should not be too late in the evening or close to bedtime. At the same time, it is not advisable to go to bed on a completely empty stomach. Darkening curtains and a sleep mask can be used.
